- at least seventy-five (75) hours of training
- which needs to include at least sixteen (16) hours of clinical training
- plus, there is a requirement to complete twelve (12) hours of continuing education for every twelve (12) months
The number of required initial training hours is exactly the same for certified nursing assistants (CNA) in Iowa as it would be if they were to provide home health care.
However, unlike other states where this amount only reaches 75 hours (the minimum national standard), here you need 30 extra clinical hours which are set higher than federal requirements–but not by much!
